Apathy vs Depression
Apathy has been traditionally viewed as a feature of depression. Criteria for depression including poor concentration, difficulty making decisions, low self-esteem, markedly diminished interest, and feelings of hopelessness and fatigue are commonly manifest as loss of motivation (36). It is fair to question whether apathy can be clearly differentiated from depression and whether this distinction holds clinical relevance.
