Anticipation vs Action
Earlier this year I have seen The Red Hot Chili Peppers, AudioSlave, Seether, hockey, and a play in NYC. I also have went to the worlds best search engine marketing confrence, and visited one of the worlds top marketers in his office.
Anticipation vs Assumption
In order to survive crossing the streets of Chicago (or any large city I suppose) one must anticipate not assume approaching cars are going to stop at red lights. This, I thought, is a good way to explain how I as an interaction/interface designer try to design things. When designing something I think it’s a good idea to try to anticipate what and how someone may use what I design not assume how they are going to use it.
Anticipation vs Expectation
As I get older I find that I don't anticipate as much as I did when I was younger, and that's a shame. Half the fun of life is looking forward to what is going to happen. A lot of times when things actually happen they are a disappointment, but anticipation never is.
Anticipation vs Nervousness
When you wake up on exam day, one of two things is going to happen. Well, yes, you're going to pass or fail. But what I'm thinking of comes before that, and has a lot to do with how you perform on exam day. You're either going to have a tremendous feeling of anticipation or the dreaded feeling of being nervous about it.
Anticipation vs Prediction
Oftentimes, technical analysis is referred to as some sort of black magic used to time the market. However, what many outside of the financial world don't realize is that traders don't try to predict the future. Instead, they create strategies that have a high probability of succeeding - situations where a trend or market movement can be anticipated.
Anticipation vs Motivation
So you know how sometimes people make that philosophical/psychological argument that there really isn't a difference between motivation to receive a positive reward and motivation to avoid a negative penalty? As in, all we can really measure is the absolute difference between the reward and the pentaly, the motivation being proportional to that value.
