Anxiety vs Anxiety Disorder
Symptoms of anxiety are more prevalent than the common cold. Who hasn't experienced a knot in the stomach, heart palpitations, sweaty palms, worrying, irritability, difficulty concentrating, muscle tension, a dry mouth, difficulty sleeping or restlessness? Who hasn't felt "wired" or found that they were easily fatigued? These feelings and symptoms are ubiquitous. But, how does one know when these symptoms are an anticipated, reasonable reaction to endless gridlock, long commutes and the pervasive workaholism that is endemic to the greater metropolitan area? Or, how does one know when they are indicative of a more significant problem? Once one has determined that their symptoms warrant evaluation, how does one go about seeking treatment? What sorts of treatment options are available?
Anxiety vs Dread
When is fear coming from your own thoughts and when is it coming from real and present danger? Learn to distinguish the difference between anxiety and dread.
Anxiety vs Fear
In some ways, there is a difference between fear and the mental illness called "anxiety." Fear usually has an underlying rationale. Anxiety may find a rationale, but it often is just fear for its own vile self. For example, I am often terrified to leave my house. There is no reason I am terrified. But it is there and it is often overwhelming.
Common Anxiety and Depression vs Psychotic Disorders
Recently, while moderating on a forum, someone posted about being diagnosed by an MD, with “Bipolar Disorder" and they were prescribed an anti-psychotic drug for this. While these type drugs are extremely needful and very helpful to people who do indeed need them for psychotic disorders they may be suffering, at the same time, I believe any patient in doubt about a diagnosis, should seek confirmation of needing such a drug. Sometimes a second opinion by another qualified mental health professional, is needed because these drugs are powerful and should only be prescribed to patients who actually have these psychotic disorders.

Social Anxiety vs Performance Anxiety
I think it’s often hard to separate social anxiety from performance anxiety. After all, isn’t the reason we don’t want to be in a room with a bunch of strangers the fact that we aren’t sure how to act or what to say to them? If we didn’t have to worry about our performance, what would be the big deal?
Social Anxiety vs Shyness
For people with social anxiety disorder or social phobia, everyday social situations involve overwhelming anxiety and self-consciousness. The intensity of these feelings varies from person to person, and not every person with social anxiety disorder fears the same types of situations.
Stress vs Anxiety
Stress can come from any situation or thought that makes you feel frustrated, angry, nervous, or even anxious. What is stressful to one person is not necessarily stressful to another.
